Kiambethu Tea Farm

Tour Details:
Arrive at 11am and over a cup of tea or coffee the history of the farm and process of making tea is informally explained, followed by an opportunity to see tea in the field. Then take a walk in the indigenous forest with their resident Kenyan guide who will identify the plants and explain how they are traditionally used. Look out for the Colobus monkeys close up and wander in the gardens which are home to a wide variety of birds and flowers.
Return to the house to enjoy a pre-lunch drink on the verandah with sweeping views across the tea fields to the Ngong Hills. Lunch is served about 1pm and is a three-course buffet lunch from their set menu prepared with vegetables from the garden and desserts are topped with cream from their herd of Channel Island cows.
Gatura Greens Tea Farm (Home of the 1st Purple Tea Farm in Kenya)

Tour Details:
The experience begins at 9.30 am, with tea and biscuits while the host gives an informal history about the farm, followed by an introductory tea tasting before you head out to the purple tea farm. While at the farm, you are taught how to pick tea, after which you will pick some purple tea. This tea will then be taken back to the farm where you’ll be taught how to make your very own specialty orthodox tea (this includes learning to roast it, roll it by hand, dry it then pack it for yourselves to take home). After making your very own hand-picked and rolled purple tea, you will head off to the waterfall trek through a beautiful bamboo forest finishing off with a refreshing dip at the waterfall by the farm. You will then return back to the farmhouse in time for a farm-fresh 3-course meal, crowning the day with a bonfire in the gardens as guests leave at their pleasure. Accommodation at the farm’s cottages can also be arranged.

The coffee tour provides a comprehensive and customized experience, immersing visitors in the intricate details of the coffee-making process. A Coffee Promotions Specialist ensures an educational, fun, and memorable experience.
What are the requirements for the coffee tour?
Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen, a sun hat, and a bottle of water. Wet gumboots may be needed in case of rain. Comfortable shoes for hiking are also recommended.
What is provided after the coffee tour?
Coffee and cookies are provided for visitors after the completion of the tour.

The coffee tour includes:
- A short welcome with a very short introduction into the process of coffee making.
- Go outside in their lush gardens for a coffee tasting experience.
- Tour around the farm to various sites which are synonymous with the coffee process from the young seedling to the parchment grading process to the drying of the coffee
